This event provides the opportunity to potential partner firms and  industry experts, from across Canada’s  and Germany’s impressive ocean technology sector to meet and to network with the objective to develop partnerships and collaborations between German and Canadian companies engaged in the Oceans Economy.

Our b2match site features registered Canadian and German  companies who have indicated that they are interested in engaging international business discussions. with each participating company available for virtual one-to-one meetings up until October 18th 2021.

Detailed profiles for both the German and Canadian  companies can be found on the Participants tab, and further details on the virtual meeting process can be found on the How it works tab.

To take part, simply register, add your profile and then request and accept (or decline) meeting invitations.

UNESCO and the UN General Assembly have designated the period 2021 to 2030 as the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021 - 2030, with the goal that the global community should invest significantly more in ocean sciences to find solutions to global challenges.  An important prerequisite is to increase our knowledge about the oceans in the future. Ships of opportunity (e.g., freighters, ferries, cruise ships, sailing vessels, racing yachts...) can contribute to this, as they also travel in areas where we have no or only limited and incomplete data. The oceanographic and meteorological measurement systems used on board provide data for marine and climate research and must prove their reliability even under harsh, extreme conditions.

During the event, we would like to shed light on the future application possibilities as well as the market and cooperation potential of the "Ships of Opportunity" and provide information on the status quo of this initiative in Canada and Germany.   In this context we would also like to highlight that Canada and Germany are celebrating this year 50 successful years of science and technology cooperation which have helped, and continue to help, solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

As well, companies will be able to present a three minute pitch to all participating registrants.  If you wish to present a pitch please indicate this on your registration.  Please see the agenda tab for full agenda.

For the Pitch Sessions (due to time constraints, pitch slots are limited, 3 mins max per pitch, Pitches need to be approved by event organisers). Suggested pitch format:

Three PowerPoint slides. Suggest two slides  on your company and its offerings and the second on the types of partnership your company is looking for. Please include any existing experience/ skills in the assembly/ manufacturing of technologies for ships of opportunity or  mention why your technologies are suited for this kind of application.
